Daybook #6- I'm plucking feathers

Our cozy Brooklyn apartment needed a boost in energy.  Solution to this problem? Paint the walls with black chalkboard paint.  This may have been a rash decision at first but we are pleased with the outcome.  How lucky are we to be able to completely change our wall decor with an eraser.

Daybook #4 I Love My Welsh Corgi

At one point or another...sometimes more often then other people...one needs to rebel against bedtime and run around the city. Madison and Shannon did just that last night. How did this all happen? Madison was filled with a burst of energy and needed to be freed from the captivity of her apartment. Shannon had made it all the way home from work without giving into her sugar cravings. These two situations combined resulted in a trip around the block and aimless giggling.

Daybook #3-It isn't blush. My face is just cold.

On this beautiful Sunday, the Murtle and the Shabam literally forced their bodies out of bed so that they could travel to the church meeting house.  In the past they had gone to church at Union square but today they would travel just a bit farther and go to the Lincoln Square ward.  They found the company to be incredibly pleasing and look forward to attending there again the following week.

A typical Sunday includes a nice nap and the girls gave into this expectation.  They rejuvenated themselves and then faced the bitter cold once more so that they could go watch a documentary made by Spike Jonze. The film was about a incredible man and illustrator name Maurice (where the wild things are).  Afterward the girls rushed Mr. Jonze and told him the loved the movie and got his autograph.  The rest of the night was spent listening to lovely music by JA'E and walking home in the coldest weather they had ever experienced.

Sorry the video is so short.
Sometimes in life the weather is too cold to function.

Daybook #2- Kitties, the Met, and lots and lots of drunk people.

**Disclaimer: read post before watching video so you don't think we turned into some crazy party animals right after we move to new york**

Has it already been a week since we moved to this crazy city? We have learned more about life and ourselves in one week then we ever thought possible. So many opportunity's have presented themselves to us and we are feeling giddy at how great our adventure here will be. Our day yesterday was filled with kitty bliss (oh how we love our kitty) and adventures at the Met but the best part in my opinion was roughly the last 8 seconds of the video.

Danna Lee (Shannon's sister) and I decided to go in and visit shanny on her second day of work as a hostess. Let me lay out what the night was like. We got sat at one of the nicest tables in the restaurant, got all of our food and drinks for free, and ended up staying for over 4 and a half hours. This place is a party like none other. One minute people are having a nice elegant dinner with caviar that costs 215 dollars and within a few minutes they bring in a DJ to start the party. Whenever someone buys an expensive bottle of wine or champagne the servers light up sparkler flares and run to the table (see end of the video for a visual). Everyone dances on their chairs and around the tables which of course which of course i joined in on the dancing and this goes on literally for hours. After talking with the owner about the restaurant he said a normal bill at the end of the night is around 5,000 dollars. Crazy right?? Needless to say are not in Utah anymore.

Shannon did great on her second day and was such a great hostess, I especially loved watching her interact with all of the drunk people wanting their coats when they couldn't even stand up on their own.

Now that you've read the disclaimer you can watch the video with a peace of mind that were still good little Utah girls.

dear daybook #1

We are on day four of not being the typical Utah girls anymore.  Our big adventure in the big apple is being just that...a big adventure.  We are excited to get to know the nooks and crannies of city life as we live here longer and longer.

We put together a few clips of this lovely Wednesday so we can remember how lucky we are to be living in NYC and having the experiences we are having. This blog will be a place where we can look back at the exciting times we are currently living in.
